Every stage in the manufacturing process of our products is carefully considered.
We do our utmost to limit our impact on biodiversity (of which humans are a part).
Based on various studies, we have decided to focus our efforts on 4 areas: animal welfare / exploitation of natural resources (primary forests, water) / pollution (carbon emissions and waste) / energy footprint.
While our approach is still far from perfect, our sneakers are far more respectful of the living world than the vast majority of models on the market.
Animal welfare
We use no animal materials in the design of our products. Why not? Millions of animals are killed every year to make the sneakers we wear. The livestock industry is one of the most polluting in the world. It is also directly associated with deforestation and the loss of natural habitats for wildlife.
NATURAL RESOURCES
We work with European suppliers and check the origin of each of our materials to ensure that they do not come from areas associated with deforestation (particularly our rubber). In addition, every material used in our sneakers is either bio-sourced or recycled. In this way, we limit the use of virgin plastic and our water consumption.
EMISSIONS & WASTE
Our production partners are all located in Europe. Our assembly workshop is in Portugal, while our material suppliers are in Italy and Spain. We therefore maintain a short production chain. In addition to knowing our partners well, this allows us to reduce the carbon footprint linked to transport.
To meet the challenge of product end-of-life, we are working with a Portuguese sole supplier who has set up a recycling program. We'll soon be able to give a second life to your old sneakers.
ENERGY
Minimalist design, low-impact materials, short supply chains, enough strength to amortize the environmental cost and we've got it all right?
Almost, but we're forgetting the essential point: energy. The production of electricity using fossil fuels is the main cause of greenhouse gas emissions. To reduce our energy footprint, we have chosen an assembly plant powered 75% by solar panels. Similarly, our Portuguese sole supplier achieves 90%!
#STEPCLOSER
To take this wildlife-friendly approach a step further, we have created the #STEPCLOSER program. We support local initiatives to protect endangered wildlife, where the need is urgent. We invest 3% of our time and sales in this program.
We're optimistic about the future and convinced that we can have a positive impact on endangered wildlife in our humble existence.
We face many challenges, but we promise to be transparent in our efforts, and hope that you will join us in our mission.
Above all, we hope you will make every effort to work with us to build a future where Man and Nature live in harmony.
