The MEEKO project was born in 2019 during a volunteer trip in the heart of Sumatra's primary forest. The orangutan on our heels symbolizes our love for nature and adventure.
However, it was unthinkable for us to use the image of an endangered species without seeking to contribute to its preservation. That's why, right from the start, we set up a partnership with the Kalaweit association.
THE KALAWEIT ASSOCIATION
Founded by Chanee, a French icon in the environmental movement, Kalaweit has been fighting to preserve biodiversity in Indonesia since 1998. Operating in Borneo and Sumatra, the association saves hectares of forest from deforestation through close collaboration with local communities. It also cares for wild animals injured by illegal trafficking.
Palm oil production and the increasing extraction of nickel, gold, and coal threaten the primary forest and the incredible biodiversity it shelters. We humbly support Kalaweit through financial donations and regular promotion of their projects within our community.
We always hope that we won't have to explain to our future offspring what an orangutan was when they watch The Jungle Book.
