ECO-FRIENDLY, VEGAN, AND RECYCLED SNEAKERS: COCO PONGO - KHAKI GREEN
The COCO PONGO is a unisex sneaker inspired by the iconic running shoes of the 90s, with a modern twist thanks to its wedge sole. Lightweight, highly
and comfortable, it's the perfect sneaker for exploring the urban jungle every day. Designed and created responsibly, it will easily find its place in your urban, modern, and socially conscious wardrobe.
Its illustrated label refers to the Kilimanjaro plains, an ecosystem that MEEKO humbly helps to protect through the #STEPCLOSER impact program.
Detailed composition:
Vegan, bio-based, and recycled.
- Appleskin (apple waste + polyurethane)
- Recycled nylon (Seaqual fiber made from recycled ocean plastic)
- Recycled polyester (laces, lining, illustrated label, and insole)
- EVA and recycled EVA (sole)
Design & production:
Sneakers designed in France.
100% made in Europe.
Production workshop located in Guimarães (Porto region, Portugal). Exclusively European suppliers (Portugal, Spain, Italy).
COCO PONGO was designed with a thoughtful approach. The goal is to address each of the four main factors that impact biodiversity in the fashion industry: animal exploitation, exploitation of limited natural resources (forests, water), pollution, and the use of fossil fuels.
Respect for life:
After studying at length the main factors of impact of sneakers on living organisms, we have come up with appropriate responses:
- No animal matter
- Recycled, bio-sourced and traced materials (not from deforestation)
- Short circuit - assembly workshop in Portugal. Italian, Spanish and Portuguese suppliers
- Workshop and supplier of soles powered by solar panels (> 80%)
- End-of-life recycling program
The carbon footprint associated with this sustainable model is 6kg of CO₂ compared with 15 to 20kg for a pair of conventional sneakers.
Our committed model #STEPCLOSER
Our commitments as a brand start with our products and extend via the #STEPCLOSER program we created in early 2021. We allocate 30% of our profits to this program via which we support local initiatives to protect endangered wildlife.
