Meet Maxime and Guillaume, co-founders of MEEKO.

Hello, we're Max and Guillaume. We share the same love of nature and animals. During our respective volunteer experiences in Sumatra, the Amazon and Madagascar, we saw the extent of the damage to primary ecosystems and the wildlife they support.

So we started thinking about a project that would make us laugh, while at the same time providing a humble response to these issues that touch us so deeply. We've always admired the likes of Yvon Chouinard (Patagonia) and Blake Mycoskie (Toms). These pioneers of benevolent enterprise have proved that business and positive impact are not incompatible.

We too were convinced that we could create a company with an environmental mission, so we took the plunge. If you feel you can do it, but you don't, who will? 

Let's get to know each other better with a little speed dating. 

 

Guillaume

A proud native of Nice, I had to leave my sunny homeland to travel around during my business studies (Nantes, Paris, Seoul). The MEEKO project had been in the back of my mind for years. I decided to launch it after an 8-month break during which I volunteered in Asia and South America. Meeting these small NGOs in the field on a daily basis was the trigger. I've always loved nature and animals. It was time to put my energy and my taste for entrepreneurship at the service of a project that would make sense for the planet and for me. I'm more in charge of brand vision and creativity (product, marketing, etc.). I also manage our impact program and relations with NGOs.

Although this activity takes up most of my time, I still play a lot of tennis (my lifelong passion) and French boxing. Apart from that, I've had a cult following of raccoons since my 1st Pocahontas (look for the link with the brand name).

Maxime

Although I've been lucky enough to live between La Rochelle, Dublin and Barcelona, my heart remains in Franche-Comté. My 1st experience of volunteering for the education of underprivileged children in Madagascar was like an electroshock. I wanted to do something at my own level. So it's no surprise that when I met Guillaume 4 years ago, I immediately signed up for MEEKO. 

As chance would have it, we complement each other well. I like numbers, automated processes and rigor. So I'm in charge of operations - all the non-visible stuff that makes sure you get your order delivered on time! 

On the side, I'm passionate about sports (table tennis and tennis too) and anything to do with new technologies.
